Brief Summary


Jeffrey Schifman, based in New York City, has worked as both a freelance and staff photographer in commercial advertising for more than nineteen years and has in that time shot extensive print, billboard and online campaigns for IBM, Amex, Motorola, AT&T, Kodak, Hershey's, ONDCP, AIG, Delta, and Kraft among others.

His assignments have taken him through Europe, India, China, Cuba and the Deep South where he has utilized his vision and keen eye for human insight to elicit the unique quality of subject and place in environmental portraiture. He has also had the privilege of shooting a wide diversity of recognizable portraits, including Mary J. Blige, Reverend Al Sharpton, Malcolm Mclaren, Wyclef Jean, and Adam Durtz of Counting Crows.

Jeffrey’s photos are included in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York and the American Photography 18 web site. His work has been on display in shows at the Culture Project Gallery and Soho Photo Gallery in Manhattan, and the Rice/Polak Gallery in Provincetown, MA, as well as the 2005 Communication Art Advertising Annual.

A shot from his ‘Cuba Series’ won the nationally judged, 4th Annual Krappy Camera Competition in 2002 and his shots of children in India and Maoist Rebels in Nepal won the In-Focus Travel Photography Contest in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Jeffrey lives in Riverdale, New York with his wife and two kids.

Awards and Recognition
In January of 2001 Schifman had his first solo exhibition at the Culture Project Gallery in Manhattan. The 'Toy Camera Series,' featured twenty images shot from around the world.

In 2002 a piece from his 'Cuba Series' was a winner of the 4th Annual nationally jurured Krappy Camera Competition and displayed at the Soho Photo Gallery.

Two of his shots were selected for the "Brotherhood," 9/11 Memorial book and one of them is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of the City of New York.

In 2001 one of his shots was chosen for permanent display on the American Photography 18 web site.

In September of 2002, Schifman had an exhibition at the 9th Annual Photography Show at the Rice/Polak Gallery in Provincetown, Ma.
